TEAM HISTORY

Dave Barrett follows in the footsteps of his father, Gord Barrett, keeping the Blue and Yellow #97 alive.
With his wife Joanne and sons, Dave and Anthony by his side, Gord raced at Brighton Speedway from 1982 to 1994 in the Super Stock and Late Model divisions. He won two overall track championships and numerous other awards. In 1994 he also was awarded the Hard Luck Driver and Roll Over Awards as a result of a serious crash between corner 1&2, causing his retirement from racing. On August 16, 2021, Gord was inducted into the Brighton Speedway Hall of Fame with stats that included #1 Super Stock total accumulated points (Total of 9955) and 48 Wins including both qualifiers and features. In the 12 years of racing, Gord finished a total of 93 Saturday night victories.

CURRENT TEAM

Our team becomes part of our family and can often be found working on the car, developing strategy and making changes in the garage throughout the week. Every Saturday night we are more than pleased to have such a great crew helping with the nightly operations of the Blue and Yellow #97 Thunderstock. Our regular crew includes Gord Barrett, Justin Loveless and Roger Koebel, but we often welcome others when they are available and willing to help out.
Without the dedication of our family and friends, the #97 machine wouldn't be able to make it through a season! We are so grateful to have such an awesome pit crew each year that are just as dedicated as the driver!

FAMILY THEORY

Whether it is watching racing or helping out with the team, family is the foundation to the blue and yellow #97 Thunderstock and Dave Barrett's success in racing. Without his growing family supporting his dream of racing each week, Dave wouldn't be able to make it out each and every Saturday night ready to take the green flag.
On any given Saturday night you can often find any combination of his daughters alongside his spouse in the grandstands cheering him on. Never without their Barrett Racing team swag!
